Abstract
Regulation of δNp63α can be achieved at the transcriptional and post-translational levels, with the latter being greatly influenced by external stimuli such as DNA damaging agents. In this present study, we demonstrated that δNp63α physical interacts with Yes-associated protein 1 (Yap1). Ectopic expression of Yap1 decreased the stability and the half-like of δNp63α and resulted in ubiquitin-dependent degradation of δNp63α. Further, the cisplatin mediated degradation of δNp63α is attenuated with the downregulation of Yap1. Thus, our results strongly suggest that Yap1 plays a role in the regulation of endogenous δNp63α levels and is likely to contribute to the regulation of δNp63α, in physiological conditions.
