Abstract

The treatment of ulcerative colitis (UC) has traditionally involved 5-aminosalicylates, immunomodulators, and/or corticosteroid therapy along with surgical management. Recent studies have suggested that biologic therapy may have a role in the treatment of ulcerative colitis for patients with moderate to severely active colitis. In this chapter we review the role of biologics in the treatment of UC.
