Visual and tactual "go, no-go" discrimination in monkeys with temporal lobe lesions

Tested 6 experimentally naive monkeys on a visual and a tactual pattern discrimination in the "go, no-go" situation, before and after bilateral aspirations of temporal neocortex. A deficit appeared on the visual but not on the tactual discrimination. Since decrements in performance on "go, no-go" tests may require the existence of both alterations in the sensory modality and the increased tendency to contact the stimuli, the findings may be interpreted on the basis of the presence of both disturbances in the visual modality and the lack of a somesthetic deficit in the tactual sphere.
