Abstract

Post myocardial infarction ventricular remodeling contributes to diminished ventricular function and congestive heart failure. Surgical ventricular remodeling (SVR) is an approach to restore the left ventricle to a more normal size and shape thereby improving ventricular function. This chapter reviews the pathophysiology of postinfarction ventricular remodeling, the improvements seen after successful SVR operations, and the various unique surgical approaches to accomplishing ventricular restoration.
