Abstract
The anatomy, physiology, and pathology of the uterus are reviewed in relation to reproductive function. The major known uterine casues of infertility are discussed and their diagnosis and treatment outlined. It is evident from this discussion that many gaps exist in our knowledge of the uterus, and the versatile role it plays in reproduction. As the complexities of uterine function continue to be unraveled, our ability to correct the uterine factors responsible for infertility and reproductive failure will progressively improve.
