Upconversion fiber-optic confocal microscopy using a near-infrared light source

Abstract

An upconversion confocal microscope was developed and studied using rare-earth-doped glass sample powder. The process was highly efficient with upconversion fluorescence efficiency in excess of 2% with the pumping wavelength at 1550 nm and ensured high lateral resolution.
