Abstract

A case of traumatic abdominal hernia is presented. The hernia was caused by direct violence to the upper left quadrant of the abdomen. All three of the flat abdominal muscles were torn. Hernias in several of the weak areas of the abdomen, flank and groins are not uncommonly associated with trauma, but very little has been written concerning the type of hernia presented herein, which suggests that it is not frequently encountered.
