Abstract
Adequate models that incorporate the unique phenomena pertinent to microfluidic flows in microchemical processes are developed to optimize the performance and functionality of microchemical systems. Analytic expressions for the pressure gradient and the velocity profiles in rectangular microchannels incorporating velocity-slip is derived. The energy equation for multicomponent systems include terms such as diffusion thermo effects, viscous heating and the compressibility. The influence of permeation and reaction on the heating perfomance of the device are investigated.
