N2 - Transpalatal approach to the skull base provides rapid midline exposure without external facial incisions, and resultant cosmetic deformity. A variety of palatal incisions may be used, although and S-shaped incision is favored by the authors. To minimize complications, precautions should be taken to avoid prolonged retraction by releasing the retractor at regular intervals. Because it is difficult to obtain a water-tight closure of all incisions with this approach, intradural lesions are usually not approached transpalatally.
