Abstract
Tourette syndrome (TS) is a chronic neuropsychiatric disorder characterized by motor and vocal tics. Affected children are at risk of various comorbid neurobehavioral problems. TS is thought to be an inherited disorder. Cortical-striatal-thalamocortical pathways are involved, with particular importance of dopamine circuits. Multiple therapies are available to treat TS, including medications, behavioral therapies, and neurosurgery.
