Abstract

Primary plasmacytomas present as solitary lesions but systemic dissemination ultimately occurs in the vast majority of cases. Although organs rich in reticuloendothelial elements are the most common sites of secondary involvement, organs of the urogenital system are also frequently involved. Treatment programs should include systemic chemotherapy with alkylating agents. Primary operative therapy is seldom indicated in renal plasmacytoma and preservation of all functioning renal tissue is essential.
