Abstract

The vaginal douche is not harmful. There is evidence that douching has a beneficial effect on the vaginal and cervical mucous membranes. 100 patients were divided into 3 groups, 1 douching with a medicinal powder, 1 douching with water, and 1 not douching. 60% of the patients complaining of irritation had evidence of vaginitis while 80% of the patients with vaginitis complained of irritation. Douching with the medicinal powder helped ease the discharge and lowered the white blood counts of patients suffering vaginitis.
