Abstract
Silicones have achieved widespread use, particularly in breast implants. Once considered inert, certain silicon products can induce chronic inflammation and enhance immune responses to foreign antigens in experimental animals. A recent workshop1 1 The Workshop 'Immunology of Silicones' was held at Bethesda, MD, USA, on 13-14 March 1995. discussed the immunological effects of silicones.
