N1 - Funding Information: The Institute for Johns Hopkins Nursing, funded by a grant from the Open Society Institute's Project on Death in America, is engaged in the preparation and support of nursing leaders to develop and carry out projects within their specialty groups aimed to improve palliative and end-of-life care. The Institute invited nursing specialty organizations to nominate leaders to participate in The Nursing Academy for End of Life Care. Each organization was required to commit to support an action plan developed by their participants. Funding Information: The American Association of Colleges of Nursing and the City of Hope Medical Center, funded by a grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, is engaged in development of a standardized curriculum for teaching nurses about palliative care. The End of Life Nursing Education Consortium Project (ELNEC) 4 has begun by developing a curriculum for generic (baccalaureate) nursing education and will present this to an initial group of nurse educators in January 2001. The ELNEC project will have 8 national training programs for faculty from schools of nursing. For continuing education providers, ELNEC will also be disseminated through regional conferences sponsored by Last Acts.
