Abstract
Bicycle injuries were found to be a significant cause of morbidity and mortality. Boys in their middle years were at highest risk. Helmets, education, environmental modifications and the following of simple precautions could prevent many serious head injuries. Pediatricians can and should take an active role in helping parents and children to understand that bicycles are not harmless toys and should be used with care.
