Abstract
A sensitive fluorometric method for serotonin assay in human whole blood (and plasma) has been described. After precipitation of the blood proteins, serotonin is extracted from a basic solution into organic solvents and is purified and concentrated by means of an ion exchange medium, cotton acid succinate, or by extraction into acid. The values for blood from 21 patients are given and discussed.
