Abstract
Manifestations of aging are seen early in the periorbital region of the face. Exposure to the sun, edema, skin thickness, distention of the connective tissue, and laxity of the tissues all have been implicated in the formation of periorbital wrinkles and 'crow's feet'. The role of the orbicularis oculi muscle, however, has received little attention.
