Surgical treatment of sportsman's groin: The minimal repair technique (Muschaweck Repair)

Sports hernia, also known as athletic pubalgia or sportsman's Groin, is a poorly understood symptom complex resulting in debilitating pain. This entity has particular relevance for the high performance athlete, who is unable to participate or give maximum effort in his or her sport. While conservative non-surgical measures may offer partial or temporary relief, surgery offers immediate relief and return to activity. Several techniques have been described using various anatomic approaches depending on the pathology encountered. The authors describe a Minimally Invasive Approach that offers predictable relief. Return to activity appears to be improved over more aggressive techniques.
