Abstract

Surgical management of hyperopia has evolved over the last century. The development and fundamental principles of laser thermokeratoplasty, excimer laser hyperopic photorefractive keratectomy, hyperopic automated lamellar keratectomy, hyperopic laser in-situ keratomileusis, clear lens extraction with IOL implantation, and phakic IOL are reviewed. A summary of all published series to date is presented. The limitations and indications for these procedures are also discussed.
