Abstract
1. Bilateral adrenalectomy in tube-fed rats maintained with saline drinking water inhibits the growth of intramuscular Walker tumor implants to ca. 57 per cent of controls. 2. Hypophysectomy in tube-fed rats inhibits the growth of intramuscular Walker tumor implants to ca. 46 per cent of controls. 3. Cortisone acetate or adrenal cortical extract in doses used can only to a slight extent counteract the absence of the adrenals or pituitary. 4. Combined removal of adrenals and pituitary results in a cumulative restraint on tumor growth.
