Results of our studies show split thickness skin grafts are an effective cover for plantar surface defects resulting from tumor excision. Long term follow-up studies of these patients revealed no graft failures. The ease with which split thickness skin grafts can be performed makes it the treatment of choice for reconstruction of areas of excision of neoplasms of the skin on the plantar surface of the foot.
