Abstract
THERE is reason to believe that the site at which antigen is recognized is located on a precursor of the antibody producing cell; it is thought to have antigen binding properties similar or identical to the antigen binding site of the antibody which that cell will produce if appropriately stimulated1,2. Antigens can bind to the surface of antibody producing cells3,4; and immunoglobulin molecules have been detected on the surface of lymphocytes5.
