Abstract

Screening sonography of the hip in 132 premature infants indicates that prematurity is not a risk for congenital dysplasia/dislocation of the hip. However, for reasons explained in the test, screening should be carried out before discharge from hospital. Follow-up examinations are necessary only for infants with known risk factors for dysplasia/dislocation of the hip.
