Abstract
This paper describes the development and usage of a three dimensional computer based biomechanical model of the human knee joint. Geometric models of the biological structures are created, and information from these is used in rigid body dynamics and dynamic optimization calculations to predict muscle and joint forces. The joint forces are used to estimate ligamentous forces and joint contact pressure.
