Simple confocal microscopy based on single hollow-core photonic bandgap fiber

Abstract

Confocal microscopes built with single hollow-core fibers were experimentally analyzed. Reduction of Fresnel reflection at the fiber tips and mirror-with-a-hole beamsplitter reduced background level and eliminated wavelength-dependent optical components.
