Abstract
Many medical procedures in childhood are anxiety-provoking and painful. The purpose of a safe pharmacological sedation is to provide the optimal patient comfort ensuring the stability of his cardiorespiratory parameters during the procedure. Therefore, it is necessary to individualize whichever therapeutic choice to the procedure, the environment and the personnel experience and to guarantee a careful monitoring during the procedure in order to prevent or minimize the untoward effects of sedation.
