Abstract
D'Orazio and Green analyze ribosome-dependent pathways involved in RNA quality control. They discuss how the many states of a ribosome during translation of a problematic mRNA signal a number of mRNA quality control pathways, with overlapping and compensatory mechanisms that ensure mRNA and protein degradation.
