Abstract

Techniques have been developed for evaluating the mean-square response of systems to non-stationary loads. To gain insight into the response behavior, approximate expressions have been developed which show how the system properties are related to the mean-square response. The paper shows how these results can be extended to non-classically damped structures and primary-secondary systems. By using results of stationary analysis of primary-secondary systems, a simple result is obtained for the maximum response of secondary systems, which occur well after the peak of input.
