Abstract

Sarcoidosis, Sjögren's disease, and IgG4-related disease are a grouping of inflammatory disorders that can have variable clinical presentations affecting multiple organ systems. This chapter reviews the diagnostic and clinical characteristics of sarcoidosis, Sjögren's disease, and IgG4-related disease and defines kidney disease associated with each entity along with treatment approaches. Kidney involvement in sarcoidosis is variable and likely underreported but can include granulomatous interstitial nephritis, glomerulonephritis, and nephrolithiasis. In Sjögren's disease, renal involvement is rare but includes tubulo-interstitial nephritis, glomerulonephritis, and distal renal tubular acidosis. Kidney involvement is common in IgG4-related disease and includes tubulo-interstitial nephritis, glomerulonephritis, and hydronephrosis.
