Abstract

Failure of the CD4+CD25+Foxp3+ regulatory T-cell compartment to control immune reactivity to self-antigens leads to the development of chronic graft-versus-host disease largely mediated by donor-derived helper T cells that secrete proinflammatory cytokines.
