Radiofrequency ablation for supraventricular tachycardia

We compared radiofrequency ablation with drug treatment for patients with symptomatic supraventricular reentrant tachycardia using a cost-effectiveness model. For patients with monthly episodes of arrhythmia, ablation was more effective and less expensive than drug therapy. For patients with less frequent episodes, ablation was associated with better outcomes, at a cost well within that of other commonly accepted health interventions. Radiofrequency ablation remained more effective and less expensive than drug therapy even after varying our estimates of efficacy, complications, and costs.
