Abstract

Preoperative optical considerations in LASIK have gained increased importance, for they allow interpretation and anticipation of postoperative aberrations and provide a basis for patient education prior to surgery. This chapter will focus on refractive error evaluation, monovision, and contrast sensitivity. Subsequent chapters will cover the topics of corneal topography, wavefront analysis, and corneal biomechanics.
