Abstract
Women with end-stage renal kidney (ESKD) have impaired fertility due to the hypothalamic gonadal axis disruption. Restoration of fertility can occur as soon as 6 months following kidney transplantation. While various transplantation societies recommend avoidance of pregnancy in the first 1–2 years post-transplantation, the allograft, patient, and fetus can be at risk of a myriad of complications. Being cognizant of these risks, expedient diagnosis and management are essential. A concerted multidisciplinary longitudinal follows throughout pregnancy remain the most optimal strategy of surveillance for kidney transplant recipients.
