Abstract
Almost as trying as Alzheimer's disease is for patients and families are the frustrations physicians experience in considering its treatment. The apparent lack of 'anything to do' can discourage physicians from attempting anything more than perfunctory management of these cases. Nevertheless, the expert panelists that Geriatrics convened for this discussion at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York found themselves able to outline a significant primary care role in managing Alzheimer's and, further, to discern hope for more effective future treatment in recent research breakthroughs.
