Abstract
On noncontrast computed tomographic studies, four infants suffering severe ischemia demonstrated increased attenuation in a predominantly gray matter distribution. These areas enhanced homogenously after contrast infusion. Pathologically, marked capillary proliferation was found to occupy the areas of enhancement. This computed tomographic pattern lasted for months. It was associated with a poor prognosis for neurologic function.
