N2 - Globally, more than 536 million people live with diabetes (primarily type 2 diabetes mellitus [T2DM]), and this estimate is projected to increase to 783 million by 2045.1 As this population ages, many will experience vascular complications including stroke and dementia.2,3 Over the coming decades, the prevalence of each condition and related disability and comorbidity is projected to increase substantially because of population aging, rising obesity prevalence at younger ages, earlier disease detection and diagnosis, and increased survival rates.1,4
