Abstract

Ehlers-Danlos syndrome hypermobility type (EDSHT) is a hereditary connective tissue disease characterized by joint hypermobility and is associated with joint dislocations and chronic pain often improved by surgery.1 Peripheral nerve blocks (PNBs) in EDS-HT are reported to have potentially decreased response to local anesthetic (LA). Literature evaluating efficacy of PNBs in EDS-HT is sparse, especially in children.2-5 The dental literature indicates a significantly higher percentage of patients with EDS having inadequate analgesia with LA infiltration compared with patients without EDS.
