Abstract
This paper considers optimalization of drug administration as an optimal impulsive control of a compartmental system. That is, a linear compartmental system is employed as model for evaluating drug distribution in the human body and the oral administration of the drug is considered as an impulsive input to the system. The first problem considered in this paper is the construction of the model. The model is assumed to contain either two or three compartments. The optimal administration program is considered for ABPC (one of the antibiotics) and digoxin (one of the heart medicines). In administration of the constant dose at regular time-intervals, an approximate relation between the optimal dose and the time-interval is obtained.
