Abstract

The human auditory system transforms continuous acoustic signals into neural representations that enable listeners to perceive and attach meanings to sounds. Although the neural mechanisms underlying human auditory perception are not fully understood, recent advances in research and technology have enhanced our knowledge. In this chapter, we provide a brief overview of sound processing in the human auditory system, from the ear to the brain.
