Abstract

An artificial neural network based system was used to predict whether a newly diagnosed prostate cancer is organ-confined. The study was based on a dataset of 4322 patients from the John Hopkins Medical Center and the University of Michigan. A single staging index was developed and logistic regression was performed on the index value to obtain the corresponding probability estimations and confidence intervals.
