Abstract

We review porphyrin/lipid conjugate nanoparticles and microbubbles as potential cancer theranostic agents. The former have intrinsic optical multifunctionality, while the latter have photoacoustic, fluorescence and ultrasound contrast. A corresponding trimodal imaging instrument is also presented.
