Abstract

The thermodynamic behavior of amphiphilic fluids is investigated by applying the sphere-and-bond formalism to the statistical associating fluid theory (SAFT); general equations are presented for obtaining microscale information from the SAFT equation. Both bulk phase and microphase equilibria for a model of a chain amphiphile dissolved in a simple solvent are determined, and fluid microphase compositions also are calculated.
