Massive obesity and sexual activity

It is apparent that hyperobese individuals feel and display a sense of shame about themselves as attractive individuals. This aspect of learned social behavior can modify sexual activity. There was no evidence that core sexual identity or mechanical activity was aberrant in the massively obese. Furthermore, if their feelings of shame result in psychopathological phenomena such as depression, this in itself would inhibit basic libidinal drives. Thus, obesity in itself does not appear to affect sexual functioning; rather, physical and social factors decrease sexual activity in the morbidly obese.
