Abstract

Overall, cancers of the endocrine system comprise a small percentage (3%) of all cancer cases. The overwhelming majority of which are thyroid cancer (95%). The majority of the nonthyroid cancers are rare, defined as fewer than 6 cases per 100, 000 people per year. This chapter on malignancy-associated endocrine disorders examines the laboratory tests, as well as the epidemiology, risk and hereditary factors, pathology, clinical features, and additional diagnostic tests for cancers of the endocrine system with a focus on multiple endocrine syndromes, gastrointestinal neuroendocrine tumors, adrenal tumors, neuroblastoma, pheochromocytoma, parathyroid tumors, and thyroid tumors.
