Linearized electro-optical intensity modulator

Abstract

An electro-optic intensity modulator based on a Mach-Zehnder or interferometer with ring resonators is proposed and analyzed theoretically. This configuration offers a large improvement in modulation linearity achieved entirely by optical means.
