Abstract

The core simulator of COSINE code package is a three dimensional steady-state nodal code which solves multi-group diffusion equations by nodal expansion method (NEM). It also has the capability to treat axial heterogeneity using auxiliary-mesh technique to overcome control rod cusping effect. The macroscopic cross sections are corrected by a hybrid microscopic/macroscopic depletion model which tracks 17 actinides and 23 fission products. In addition, HDF5 format is also employed to faster save and load link files and restart files. Tests on single assembly and actual reactor cores problems show that the core simulator of COSINE code package can achieve reasonable results with acceptable accuracy and speed.
