Abstract

Increasing national attention is being focused on the feasibility of using slow-scan television (SSTV) for transmitting x-ray images over telephone lines from medically underserved areas to radiologists located in urban medical centers. This report describes the results of an experiment conducted to determine whether an SSTV system currently being used in several rural communities is appropriate for general radiology at the primary care level, or whether changes in design features or image quality should be considered for future applications.
