Abstract

1. 1. A further modification of the Rucker knotless longitudinal perineorrhapy technique using a single length double-armed suture is presented. 2. 2. The positive approach toward the control of postpartum perineal distress is reiterated and emphasized, the basis being the proper application of certain surgical principles inherent in the method described. 3. 3. The fact that it is unnecessary to sacrifice important tissue layers to adaptability and speed is stressed. 4. 4. The eminently satisfactory results as regards both anatomy and function obtained in this group of 350 patients is discussed. 5. 5. A plea for more widespread recognition and employment of the Rucker principles is entered.
