Abstract
The regional flow-function relation can be influenced by mechanical interactions. A review is presented that demonstrates the necessity of accounting for three-dimensional (3D) mechanics of the ventricle in order to interpret the cellular basis of regional dysfunction in complex regional disorders such as ischemia and stunning.
