Innovative ED nurse practitioner group practice

Within a group practice model, ED nurse practitioners improved their productivity by 38%. Flexible scheduling, decentralized decision making, and restructured compensation increased job satisfaction. Plans are under way to compare cost-effectiveness and patient care outcomes for nurse practitioners with the same parameters for physicians who deliver care to patients with nonacute conditions in the same emergency setting.
